A school catchment zone is the geographical location where a school's core intake of students must live and are put in place to ensure that each school has sufficient capacity for every local student to enroll.

Students may still apply to enroll at a school outside of their catchment area but enrollment is not guaranteed. A state school's ability to accept students who live outside its catchment area depends on the schools Enrollment Management Plan.
